Register for International Workshop Until July 16

From September 21-23, the CASA Cluster of Excellence will host the first-ever "Women in Security and Cryptography WISC" international workshop.

Female* PhD students and outstanding female* students from the field of IT security and related areas are cordially invited to participate in the digital workshop WISC. Registration for the workshop is open until Friday, July 16.

Over three days, the digital workshop will offer an exciting program of technical presentations and tutorials by senior and junior women* from academia and industry, networking opportunities, and many other activities. The conference program will focus on high-level talks by leading female* scientists in the field of IT security. CASA has been able to attract a number of renowned female scientists as speakers:

  • Adrienne Porter Felt, Director of Engineering at Google,
  • Carmela Troncoso, Assistant Professor at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne,
  • Elette Boyle, associate professor and director of the FACT Research Center at IDC Herzliya in Israel,
  • Michelle Mazurek, associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Maryland, and
  • Tal Rabin, professor of computer science at the University of Pennsylvania and advisor to the Algorand Foundation.

Among other topics, the participants can expect a talk by Elette Boyle on "Pseudorandom Correlation Generators" and a talk by Adrienne Porter Felt on "An Industry Career Path, in Security and Beyond." The entire WISC program can be found here: https://casa.rub.de/wisc-workshop

The goal of the workshop is not only to create an attractive continuing education program, but also to bring together women* from the various fields of IT security research and to promote a collaborative exchange within the community. Participants will gain new insights into the field, learn about role models, and make lasting connections with female* key players in the scientific community.
