Women* in IT Security: ITS better toGATHER!

In order to connect the female CASA members with each other and to support them in expanding their academic network, a regulars’ table was established in which the ECR and cyber security students can exchange ideas on how to network and work for equal opportunities and diversity. In addition, established female cyber security security experts from academia and industry are regularly invited to give presentations and informal exchange.

Current dates can be found in our events calendar.

Women in IT Security Series

IT security plays an important role in all areas of society. As the digital and physical worlds become increasingly interconnected, new challenges and questions continually arise. Just as diverse as these challenges are the career opportunities available. With our series "Women in IT Security," we aim to showcase the variety of paths and opportunities in IT security—especially for women—and introduce you to inspiring women with different research focuses who work with us.

RUB’s Gender-Equality Measures

RUB has a host of established gender-equality measures that are geared towards Early Career researchers. The mentoring3 program promotes female doctoral and postdoctoral researchers’ scientific careers.  In order to establish a truly interdisciplinary network across all research disciplines, female scientists get together at the annual Meet the Female Faculty event, where young female scientists talk with professors from all 20 departments about various aspects of an academic career.

In addition, the Women Professors Forum (WPF) for female professors is part of RUB's efforts to attract women to science, retain female scientists and promote excellent personalities at the highest level at the university. CASA PI Veelasha Moonsamy has been a member of the Executive Board of the WPF since 2024.
