On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, selected CASA researchers met with representatives of various market-leading companies such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Research and Intel Labs to discuss possible transfer projects. In the venerable Beckmannshof of the Ruhr University Bochum, the participants had the chance to discuss the most pressing real-world problems of IT companies and to reflect on the most recent breakthroughs in science and those that could still be ahead.

A key objective of the CASA Cluster of Excellence is to link basic research results with practice. The CASA Meets Industry event is part of the transfer strategy, the overall aim of which is to test and increase the practical relevance of CASA research and to promote spin-offs and market applications.

One of the participants, Eduard Marin Fabregas from Telefonica Research, sums up that an exchange between research and industry at events like CASA meets industry is vital. "Researchers learn about the real problems and needs of industry, enabling them to focus their work on practical applications. At the same time, industry gains valuable insights into cutting-edge research and emerging technologies, helping them to remain competitive and innovative." This collaborative exchange, he says, fosters innovation and drives progress in both scientific research and industrial development.
