Henry Ford once said, "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is a success." In the spirit of this motto, this CASA PI Gathering 2023 took place on February 14, 2023, at the Beckmannshof at Ruhr University Bochum.

Interdisciplinary research constitutes an integral part of the Cluster of Excellence. This requires time and space for personal exchange: This is why we made up the "PI Gathering". This year, 22 scientists* came again together to discuss their research in different formats.

New impulses through cross-disciplinary exchange

In his welcome address at the beginning of the day, CASA speaker Eike Kiltz presented the progress of the cluster since the CASA retreat in September 2022. In the following speed-dating sessions, two PIs from different Hubs came together. Many new ideas and impulses resulted from the discussions of these constellations in an easy atmosphere. Some of the topics even came up in the small group meetings afterwards, enabling a larger number of participants to take up and discuss them.

In addition, participants had room to discuss research in their fields in the Hub Internal Sessions after lunch.

Working together on Future Hot Topics

The day ended with a joint focus on future-relevant topics for the Cluster of Excellence. What came particularly clear: In Bochum, a familiar team is looking forward to future joint projects.

General note: In case of using gender-assigning attributes we include all those who consider themselves in this gender regardless of their own biological sex.
