Every year, the CASA Summer School offers young aspiring scientists exciting expert lectures from top-tier speakers and an opportunity for international exchange. This year's summer school will take place from August 26th to August 30th, 2024, at Ruhr University Bochum. A special feature this time is that it is being held in collaboration with crypt@b-it as the "Summer School on Cryptography". It is organized by our Cluster of Excellence CASA, the German Informatics Society, the Working group “Applied Cryptology” (KRYPTO), and the b-it (Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology), in cooperation with the IACR.

Focusing on Cryptography
The Summer School will cover the following topics:

  • Proofs of Computation and Storage: SNARKs and beyond
  • Lattice Algorithms for Cryptography

The speakers will be Anca Nitulescu from ENS Paris and Léo Ducas from the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica and Leiden University. Instead of the usual three days, this time participants will have five days to immerse themselves in both research areas through lectures and deepen their knowledge in tutorials. In addition to an excursion, the summer school also offers plenty of time for networking and personal exchange.

Registration Now Open
The Summer School is aimed at master's students, doctoral candidates, and postdocs. Advanced bachelor students (close to graduation) can also apply. Applications for the Summer School are now open until June 17th.
