What: Movie Screening “Hidden Figures” (English with German subtitles)
When: Thursday, 26 January 2023, 6 pm
Where: Open Space, MC Building, Ruhr-Universität Bochum
Participation is free of charge. A registration is not necessary. There will be snacks and drinks.
What is the movie about?
African-American female mathematicians Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson work behind the computer screens at NASA in the 1950s and '60s. The US are racially segregated and gender equality does not exist. But it is thanks to these three brilliant women that astronaut John Glenn's orbit of the Earth in a spacecraft in 1962 is successful and safe. „Hidden Figures“ tells the concealed story of 3 brilliant women in science who broke new ground in many kinds of ways.
