On Thursday 9 March, the Cluster of Excellence CASA hosted a farewell party for Thorsten Holz. Nearly 100 guests gathered to share a convivial afternoon full of memories. Thorsten Holz has joined the CISPA Helmholtz Centre for Information Security as a tenured professor in October 2021. His membership in the Cluster of Excellence will now end in April 2023. Holz will continue to work at the Faculty of Computer Science until September 2024 and support his doctoral students in successfully completing their doctorates.
Holz contributed to the success of Bochum ITS
"Thorsten, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your work over the past 12 years," said Christof Paar, CASA spokesperson, at the beginning of the event. "You have contributed a great deal to the success of IT security in Bochum," he concluded. Paar and Eike Kiltz, also a speaker at the Excellence Cluster, reviewed the past years with anecdotes and pictures. Thorsten Holz then took the opportunity to thank his colleagues, staff and alumni. He presented his career and future research projects. Finally, an interactive quiz introduced the informal part of the event, and the guests were able to continue exchanging ideas over snacks, drinks and music.
