CASA Transfer Lab

The mission of the CASA Transfer Lab is to promote exchange between academia and practice. This is achieved in three ways:

Real-World Adoption: The lab aims to test CASA's research findings and technologies in practical systems to identify their market potential. The Cluster of Excellence is carrying out various technology transfer projects with industry partners for this purpose.
Real-World Feedback: The Lab will provide feedback regarding the ability to adopt research results in practical systems.
Startup Support: Based at the Horst Görtz Institute, the startup incubator Cube 5 supports aspiring entrepreneurs in the field of cybersecurity and offers access to the BMFTR funding program StartUpSecure. With the RUB’s Worldfactory, CASA researchers have another resource for knowledge transfer.

CASA has launched two types of research projects aimed at practical application. In addition, the research location Bochum has a large network of project partners from industry, public institutions, and other organizations.

Professional Preparation Program

The Professional Preparation Program supports CASA members who are interested in careers outside of academia and prepares them for jobs in industry and at startups. As part of Bochum’s vibrant cybersecurity ecosystem, CASA has access to a wide range of relevant networking opportunities – including through the startup incubator Cube 5 and the comprehensive alumni network of the IT security degree programs.

CASA meets Industry

The “CASA meets Industry” event aims to identify relevant research topics for practical application and to establish initial points of contact. To this end, CASA Principal Investigators meet with industry partners from leading tech companies.

The first event took place on May 9, 2023, at Beckmannshof. In attendance were selected CASA researchers as well as representatives from market-leading companies such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Research, and Intel Labs. Another event is planned for 2028.
