From 2020, 5G - the fifth generation of mobile Internet and telephony - will be available throughout Germany. This expansion of mobile networking provides a wide range of possible applications - but also poses new challenges in the field of IT security and requires appropriate measures and responses.
The Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security has now published a whitepaper entitled 5G What does the "fifth generation" of the new mobile phone standard mean for IT security?. The paper not only sheds light on the technology behind 5G and its particularities and players, but also highlights the relevance of IT security in particular. Social and research-related open questions and risks are also outlined.
Here you can download the whitepaper for free.
